Iridient X-Transformer is an application from the makers of Iridient Developer. The software converts Fuji X-Trans RAW files to DNG from the native RAF, and during the process demosaics the images using Irident’s own engine. I have read that Iridient X-Transformer is a good solution, so I downloaded it. I am trying to make the best of it (creating the DNG in X-Transformer and then working on it), but do not find significant differences between what I can get in Lightroom w/o X-Transformer. Iridient X-Transformer is a dead simple program, you only have a few settings to choose from, the primary setting to pay attention to is RAW Process, there are two settings to choose from (More Detailed and Smoother), either works very well.
After lots of testing and trying various combinations, I’ve come up with what I believe is the best approach to take if you prefer natural looking images. Iridient X-Transformer isn’t a full-blown raw processing package. What it does is de-mosaic the Fuji raw file and store it as a dng (Digital Negative) file. Once X-Transformer has produced the dng file you are free to import it into any raw processor you like which supports the dng format – for example Adobe Lightroom.
